“As oft as ye shall do these things, ye shall do them in remembrance of me.”
These words, which are said every day in our church, have been at the heart of our ministry since our earliest days. The global pandemic in the last year has presented us with a number of unprecedented challenges, but our firm belief in the centrality of shared Eucharistic life has driven us to be not only open for corporate worship, but also to develop an online presence which allows those who can’t join us in person to be a part of the Mass seven days a week.
As we have risen to the challenge of developing our mission within our current circumstances, S Barnabas’ Church continues to work to enhance the experience of our worshippers, both those present at church, as well as those who worship with us online. We have identified the need for a sound system in our building as a priority. As one of the 100 largest parish church buildings in the Church of England (of which there are over 16,000), the ability to hear clearly is not always easy for worshippers, particularly those with hearing difficulties. A sound system will both allow worshippers to hear more clearly and will allow us to introduce a hearing loop system. For worshippers online, a modern sound system will allow us more flexibility with cameras to broaden coverage to better reflect the liturgy in our building.
We have received generous donations towards this goal, but your contribution will build the funds necessary to complete this important project for our church as we continue to grow, firmly rooted in the foundational principles which have made our church what it is today.
